NOTICE OF June 2, 2026 ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Compton’s Primary Nominating Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 for the following elected offices:

• MAYOR OF THE CITY OF COMPTON (Full term of four (4) years)

  
  

• CITY COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICT 2 (Full term of four (4) years)

  
  

• CITY COUNCIL MEMBER DISTRICT 3 (Full term of four (4) years)

  
  

• CITY CLERK (Full term of four (4) years)

  
  

• CITY TREASURER (Full term of four (4) years)

The candidacy filing period will open February 9, 2026 at 7:00 a.m. and close March 6, 2026 5:00 p.m.

Nominating papers must be obtained from the Office of the City Clerk of the City of Compton, 205 S. Willowbrook Avenue, Compton, Ca, 90220. (310) 605-5530.

If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by March 6, 2026, the voters shall have until March 11, 2026 to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the incumbents for that incumbent’s elective office. This extension is not applicable where there is no incumbent eligible to be elected.

If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by Section 10229, Elections Code of the State of California.

NOTE: Appointments to receive nomination papers are highly recommended.
